Audacious Joy

Over an animated post-delicious-family-dinner conversation, I remarked half-jokingly to Dad that audacity ran in our kindred blood.

Dad laughed heartily, then turned and said to Mum in Hokkien,

"Yeah, remember how we went ahead and got married despite the fact that I only had $20 in my bank account?"

Mum's face swelled with a sweet warm smile, then she added,

" 没有啦。你记错啦。那时你连银行户口都没有啊 "

I thought Mum was usually the forgetful one... : )
